I can’t stress enough that the wing dams I have been fishing are now a mere foot or so below the water… If you are not familiar with the buoy system on the river you need to be if you’re planning to spend a day on the river..

Sep 10, 2011 · When fishing on the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi River, a person may possess and use live rusty crayfish or native crayfish as fishing bait. All other non-native species of crayfish are considered a prohibited invasive species in Wisconsin. The season for taking crayfish from the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi river is May 1 to March 1.

Feb 23, 2024 · Went out today late morning to about 2:30pm today. Windy day on the river. Spent about 45 minutes at the confluence, marked a lot of fish. Lots of boats stopping through, no fish caught. Went down river and marked some fish down river of a hole.

Jan 7, 2025 · There’s a lot going on by Frontenac with both the points and natural bend of the riverbed, along with some different bottom hardness all in a relatively small area. I remember 15 years ago how it always seemed to be local river rats fishing the area…as it has become more popular I’ve seen more and more “close calls”.

Now is the time to get out and have some fun, and make life-long memories with friends and family! On a side note, I haven’t been able to take my wife "river walleye fishing" yet this year. I get home tonight, and she said " I could have missed work today.."

Dec 26, 2006 · The Mississippi River offers alot of backwaters with shallower water and finding the areas with no current provides an angler with a nice place for safer ice fishing. The ice is thicker in these areas with us fishing on 6-8 inches of ice. The best action came from areas we found with cleaner water.
