Albino snakes are the result of a genetic mutation that inhibits the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for the dark colors typically seen in snakes' skin. Since albino snakes don't produce melanin they are more prone to sunburn and can suffer from vision problems due to their sensitive eyes. Here's is my interpretation of what the albino variations look like. Obviously, the darkness black animals would have more reds, etc, as an albino. It is interesting the amount of variation there is although besides the two extremes, it can be subtle. | Reptile Garden
