One of the amazing places on Sakhalin island where the man made facility elegantly meets the natural scenery is cape Aniva equipped with a lighthouse of the same name. Nine floors high concrete tower that beams light to 17 miles away. Built in 1939 it was overhauled and improved in 1968 and 1990 but now it's an abandoned and plundered and slowly breaking down by the elements. The activists made numerous attempts to assign Aniva a status of a historical monument and rebuild it but, alas, nothing
