You can easily teach rhyme AND beginning sounds with repeated readings of a favorite book! After the child has heard the story read many times, start leaving out the some of the rhyming words, and then point to the word in the book. Start making the beginning sound of the missing word, and the child will start to use it as a clue. Voilá!
