🇺🇸 The 10th Mountain Division was a terrible idea. Or at least that’s what many Army officers in Washington thought. But the division was allowed to go ahead regardless, and eventually became one of America’s most capable fighting forces of the war. On top of their contributions to the war, after WWII many members went on to found ski resorts, magazines and even surplus stores that specialized in mountaineering and skiing equipment. Dick Proenneke was a Navy mechanic from Iowa who at 51 years old left modern life behind and moved alone to the remote wilderness of Alaska. With nothing but hand tools, skill, and discipline he built his own log cabin from scratch near Twin Lakes and lived there for nearly 30 years, hunting, fishing, crafting his own tools, and carefully documenting the wildlife and seasons around him. 🇩🇪 Why did Germany design this creature? Known as the Wiesel, it’s a light airborne armored vehicle intended to support paratroopers during combat drops. Developed in the 1970s and 1980s, a little over 340 have been made. They’re still in service with the German Bundeswehr, much like the Flecktarn parkas we currently have in stock at AP.

The B-3 bomber jacket was developed in the mid-1930s for the United States Army Air Forces to provide warmth at high altitudes during flight missions. Made of heavy-duty sheepskin and lined with thick shearling, it was designed specifically for bomber crews flying in unpressurized cabins at altitudes over 25,000 feet. The jacket’s wide collar could be flipped up and secured with leather straps to guard against frigid wind. Its rugged construction and practical warmth made it essential gear for b

Refillable butane lighters are hands down the best choice for survival and everyday life 🔥 They last forever because you can refill them over and over which means you always have fire when you need it. They are wind resistant, reliable in rough conditions and built with durability in mind. You can even adjust the flame to make it perfect for small jobs like lighting tinder or jobs like sealing rope ends. For everyday use they save money since you are not constantly buying disposables. They are
