On this day in 1515, Anne of Cleves was born. She was the daughter of Maria of Julich-Berg and the Duke of Cleves and was raised in modern-day Germany. In 1540, Anne of Cleves became Henry VIII’s fourth wife. They were only married for just over 6 months before their marriage was annulled on July 9th the same year. Anne became known as the ‘King’s Sister’ and Henry gave Anne a host of magnificent properties as part of their annulment settlement, including the right to tenant Hever Castle, which
