Los Angeles has a long history of empowering reformed gang members to provide public safety. Sanyika Shakur was infamous on the streets of LA and used his influence as a former gang member to make our neighborhoods safer. In 1993 he became a best-selling author detailing his life, growth, and transformation, turning around the lives of thousands of young men.
