I chose to paint this lovely long haired cat to show a range of techniques. From building layers to achieve fine details and depth to the soft, out of focus fur on the body. All required the use of various brushes which are used in slightly different ways depending on the fur texture of that animal. When creating a sunset sky like this we need to use specific blending techniques and tools to slow the drying time down. This enables us to then blend the layers of wet paint to create soft, out of focus effects very similar to how oil paint can look. The fast drying time is often mentioned as a negative when working with acrylics but I think it's a positive.
